Checklist of the birds of Utsira

Categorisation, sequence and taxonomy follow the British Ornithologists´ Union Records Committee, Norwegian names follow Norsk navnekomité for fugl (the Norwegian bird name committee) and English names follow the International Ornithological Congress.

As of 31st December 2009 there have been 318 species occurring in an apparently natural state on Utsira. All locally and nationally rare species and for which descriptions are required, have been accepted by the respective rare birds committee. Exceptions to this are recent records still under consideration and also some subspecies of uncertain status (these are marked with an asterisk and are not included in the total). All species have been accepted to species level except Willow / Marsh Tit (not counted) and all have been seen alive except Barn Owl (found dead in the middle of the island).

Species on Category A (none on Category B) appear first, followed by species on Categories C, D and E.
